Blown glass, river rock, land rock, moss, and crane
59"H x 43"W x 25"D
A small river rock - whose form was carved over the course of millennia by (amongst other forces) water rushing over it - has been collected. In an effort to protect the current form - which has been deemed aesthetically pleasing - it has been placed in a protective glass encasement in order to both hide it from the elements and to elevate it to the status of display-object similar to how a cup is elevated when in the form of a goblet. This is resting on top of a much larger and arguably cruder rock which itself is in the balance of being suspended by a crane and resting on the floor. Gravity is suggested but only while an attempt is being made to deny it. This is a suggestive insight into our relationship with the rest of the natural world.
