Danger Dinner

2009

Event

A dinner was held for a friend. The theme was danger and the guest was invited roughly 8 months before the dinner occurred. The guest was given an information packet including an intense physical training routine, a handmade glass barometer to study the air pressure, information pertaining to outdoor survival, an article about the dangers of Mount Washington in New Hampshire, maps and images of the proposed dinner site which was to be on Mount Washington in New Hampshire. Mount Washington is home to some of the world’s worst weather and the highest wind-speed every recorded on earth, 232mph. A team of assistants acted as sherpas to carry the dinner equipment which included a custom table, glassware, food, wine, and survival gear should it be needed. Also present was a scene painter and a photographer. The glassware was un annealed making it prone to instantaneous breakage. A three-course meal consisting of a salad course, pasta course and entrée of lobster was served along with red wine mixed with shards of glass. A snow storm happened upon us part way through dinner and was hitting hard as we descended.
